Table lamps in Pakistan span an enormous range, and the photographs rarely explain the gap. The price is set by four things: the base material, the quality of the glass or crystal, the wiring and switch, and the shade.
What each material costs you
Solid brass and marble bases carry real weight and cost the most to ship and to finish. Cut crystal is priced by clarity and by how the facets are polished — a cheap rod looks cloudy at the edges. Plated resin looks similar in photographs and costs a fraction, which is exactly why weight is the first thing to ask about.
- Solid brass or marble base — heaviest, most durable, highest cost
- Cut or hand-blown crystal — priced by clarity and polish
- Chrome or polished steel — modern, mid-range
- Plated resin — light, lowest cost, shortest life
Sizing for a Pakistani bedroom or drawing room
For a bedside table, a lamp of 45 cm to 55 cm keeps the shade below eye level when you are sitting up in bed. For a console or a side table in a drawing room, 60 cm to 90 cm reads far better. Our Lumière, Prisme and Gala lamps are listed at 48 cm, 88 cm and 63 cm so you can match the height to the surface exactly.
Light quality matters more than wattage
Use warm bulbs between 2700K and 3000K in living spaces. A beautiful crystal lamp with a cold white bulb looks clinical, and the same lamp with a warm bulb looks like jewellery. Our floor lamp guide covers bulb temperature and placement in more detail.
