A side table is touched every day, which makes it the highest-return upgrade in a drawing room. Three decisions matter.
Height: match the armrest
The top should sit within 5 cm of the sofa armrest — usually 55 to 65 cm. Lower feels like a footstool; higher feels like a console pulled out of place.
Shape: contrast the sofa
Straight, boxy seating pairs with round or organic tables; curved seating pairs with angular ones. The ARRA table plays that contrast well against a straight-lined sofa.
Material: one warm, one cool
If the room is full of warm textiles, bring in stone or metal. If it is already cool and minimal, use wood — the Nest walnut veneer duo adds warmth and gives you two surfaces in one footprint.
What goes on top
Keep it to two objects and clear space: a small lamp from table lamps, and one low object. Anything more and the table stops being usable. Full collection in tables.
