Room Decoration Ideas for Pakistani Homes That Still Look Good in a Year

Interiors · 6 September 2026 · 6 min read

Most rooms in Pakistan are not short of furniture; they are short of focus. The fastest way to make a room look considered is to remove several small accessories and add one object with real presence.

Layer your lighting

A single ceiling light flattens a room. Add two more layers: a floor lamp in a corner for height, and a table lamp at seated height on a console or side table. Warm bulbs throughout, and where possible put them on a dimmer.

One statement object per room

Choose a single piece that the room is arranged around — a bronze or marble sculpture, a mirror, or a sculptural side table. Everything else in the room should be quieter than it. Our guide on styling sculptures at home shows how to place one.

Sizes that fit real rooms

Pakistani ceilings usually run 9 to 11 feet, which comfortably takes a 150–180 cm floor lamp. Drawing room walls of 10 to 12 feet suit a 140–180 cm console. Buying too small is the single most common mistake — measure before you order.

  • Floor lamp: 150–180 cm for 9–11 ft ceilings
  • Console: 140 cm for a 10 ft wall, 180 cm for 12–14 ft
  • Side table: within 5 cm of the seat height beside it
  • Sculpture: about two-thirds the height of the surface behind it

Entrances and bedrooms

In an entrance, a console with a lamp and a mirror does the whole job. In a bedroom, matched table lamps at each side of the bed create symmetry instantly. For small apartments, our small apartment decor guide has room-by-room notes.
